Welcome to the website of the Foreign Mothers Group of Nagoya, Japan!
Living in Japan as a foreigner is sometimes difficult, especially when you're pregnant or have a small baby and don't speak the language. To help foreign women in this situation the Nagoya Foreign Mothers Group was organized in 1996 by Ms. Misako Iwamoto, a veteran midwife who selflessly committed herself for years volunteering to help foreign expectant moms.
For all these years, our members come and go, many of whom have gone back to their country, moved out of Nagoya and some are still around and we are glad to be of help for these wonderful moms or for those who are planning a family. We are also very grateful from those who had their babies and still come to our monthly meetings to meet and give support to our new members and share their experiences, information, advices and particularly from Maria Vassileva for her breastfeeding lecture.
Please come to our meeting, you may bring your kids, husband, partner or even friends. These meetings can be very helpful, not only when you are expecting, but also during the first few months with a new-born baby. It is a place to meet mothers and mothers-to-be from various cultural backgrounds. You can ask questions, talk over any worries or difficulties you have, not only with a midwife but with other "experienced" parents as well.Hope to see you there!
